Car depreciation by model (UK, 2026)
How quickly does a used car lose value? We measured it model by model for the 15 cars UK dealers list most often, using used-car asking prices from large UK online car dealers (October 2026).
By Juan Pedro Nguema · Updated
Across the whole market, a used car loses about 5–6% of its asking price for each extra year of age and about 5% for each extra 10,000 miles. Individual models can be well above or below that. Each page below shows how one model compares, its asking prices by year, and what that means if you are selling or buying.
Of the 15 models, the Volkswagen Polo loses value most slowly with age (3.2% a year) and the Nissan Qashqai the fastest (7.1% a year). For mileage, the Volkswagen Polo is the least affected (4.2% per 10,000 miles) and the Ford Kuga the most (6.2%). Together these pages cover 5,316 cars.

How to read these figures
“Lost per year” is the typical fall in asking price for one extra year of age, with mileage, fuel type and gearbox held constant. “Lost per 10k miles” is the fall for 10,000 extra miles at the same age. Both come from a regression within each model. Medians mix trims and fuel types, and these are dealer asking prices, not what cars actually sold for. The full method and caveats are in the UK Used Car Prices Report 2026, and our car depreciation guide explains what drives these numbers.
