How the Volkswagen Tiguan compares with the market
Holding mileage, fuel and gearbox constant, each extra year of age takes about 5.2% off the asking price of a used Volkswagen Tiguan. That is roughly in line with the market, which loses about 5–6% a year, and ranks 5th of the 15 most-listed models in our study (1st loses the least).
Each extra 10,000 miles takes about 5.2% off, which is close to the market rate of about 5% per 10,000 miles; that ranks 12th of 15 for mileage. Overall, the Volkswagen Tiguan sits close to the typical used car, with mileage doing slightly more of the damage.
Volkswagen Tiguan asking prices by year
The oldest model year in the table, 2017 (7 cars), has a median asking price of £12,099 with 72,239 miles. The newest, 2026, sits at £32,599 with 4,356 miles. The biggest jump between consecutive years is from 2022 (£17,424) to 2023 (£22,099), partly because the newer cars have fewer miles (24,743 against 34,774).
| Year | Cars | Median price | Median mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 7 | £12,099 | 72,239 |
| 2018 | 16 | £15,149 | 64,325 |
| 2019 | 23 | £15,799 | 41,710 |
| 2020 | 16 | £18,244 | 53,236 |
| 2021 | 25 | £17,899 | 44,950 |
| 2022 | 38 | £17,424 | 34,774 |
| 2023 | 62 | £22,099 | 24,743 |
| 2024 | 35 | £25,499 | 14,413 |
| 2025 | 33 | £29,199 | 9,282 |
| 2026 | 20 | £32,599 | 4,356 |
Medians mix trims, engines and fuel types, so a single year's figure can move up or down with the mix of cars on sale. The per-year and per-mile rates above come from a regression that controls for fuel and gearbox.
What this means if you're selling your Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan has the largest automatic premium in the study, about 21.9%, and 86% of cars for sale are automatic. A manual Tiguan sits in a small minority, so price it against other manuals.
Petrol is 57% of listings, diesel 24% and plug-in hybrid 19%. Depreciation is 5.2% a year and 5.2% per 10,000 miles.
What this means if you're buying a used Volkswagen Tiguan
Tiguan prices spread widely, from about £14,739 to £30,121 for the middle 80% of cars, so specification and powertrain matter. 2023 is the most common year (62 cars, median £22,099).
A 2021 car is advertised at a median £17,899 with 44,950 miles, roughly half the £32,599 median for 2026.
Worked example
A 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan with 24,743 miles is advertised at about £22,099. One more year of age takes off roughly £1,150; 10,000 more miles takes off roughly £1,150. A year in which you also drive 10,000 miles would cost around £2,300 in lost value, before fuel, tax, insurance and servicing.
