In our model it loses about 5.9% a year against 7.1% for the Qashqai, and it is less sensitive to mileage.Nissan Qashqai vs Nissan JukeThe smaller Juke loses value more slowly with age (−4.8% a year against −7.1%), but the Qashqai starts much higher, so it loses more pounds each year.Kia Sportage vs Hyundai TucsonAlmost a dead heat. The Sportage loses slightly less each year (5.9% v 6.2%) and less per 10,000 miles, but at the same age and mileage the two sell for very similar money.Volkswagen Tiguan vs Ford KugaThe Tiguan holds its value better on every measure: it loses less per year (5.2% v 6.1%) and less per 10,000 miles (5.2% v 6.2%).Volkswagen Golf vs Audi A3The Golf holds its value better with age (−3.9% a year against −6.0%), so the A3's premium badge mostly disappears after three or four years.Audi A3 vs BMW 1 SeriesThe BMW 1 Series loses value slightly more slowly (5.4% a year v 6.0%) and is less affected by mileage, although the difference is small.BMW 1 Series vs Mercedes-Benz A-ClassVery close. The Corsa is the cheaper way into a nearly new small car.Vauxhall Corsa vs Volkswagen PoloThe Polo holds its value far better. It loses about 3.2% a year, the slowest rate of the 15 popular models we analysed, against 5.8% for the Corsa.
