How the Kia Sportage compares with the market
Holding mileage, fuel and gearbox constant, each extra year of age takes about 5.9% off the asking price of a used Kia Sportage. That is roughly in line with the market, which loses about 5–6% a year, and ranks 9th of the 15 most-listed models in our study (1st loses the least).
Each extra 10,000 miles takes about 4.3% off, which is less sensitive to mileage than the market (about 5% per 10,000 miles); that ranks 2nd of 15 for mileage. Overall, the Kia Sportage sits close to the typical used car, with age doing slightly more of the damage.
Kia Sportage asking prices by year
The oldest model year in the table, 2018 (14 cars), has a median asking price of £11,024 with 48,562 miles. The newest, 2026, sits at £27,049 with 4,723 miles. The biggest jump between consecutive years is from 2021 (£13,424) to 2022 (£18,499), partly because the newer cars have fewer miles (34,227 against 41,543).
| Year | Cars | Median price | Median mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 14 | £11,024 | 48,562 |
| 2019 | 27 | £11,799 | 50,337 |
| 2020 | 16 | £13,449 | 39,947 |
| 2021 | 34 | £13,424 | 41,543 |
| 2022 | 43 | £18,499 | 34,227 |
| 2023 | 61 | £19,999 | 29,020 |
| 2024 | 30 | £24,186 | 15,704 |
| 2025 | 18 | £26,494 | 7,467 |
| 2026 | 239 | £27,049 | 4,723 |
Medians mix trims, engines and fuel types, so a single year's figure can move up or down with the mix of cars on sale. The per-year and per-mile rates above come from a regression that controls for fuel and gearbox.
What this means if you're selling your Kia Sportage
Almost half of all Sportages listed (239 of 486) are 2026 cars with a median of just 4,723 miles. That nearly-new stock is what buyers see first, so price an older Sportage clearly against cars of its own year rather than against the headline £26,599 median.
Three in four Sportages for sale (75%) are automatic, and an automatic is worth about 19.5% more than a manual, one of the larger gearbox premiums in this study. Petrol (49%) and hybrid (35%) dominate; diesel is 12% of listings.
What this means if you're buying a used Kia Sportage
If you want a nearly-new Sportage there is plenty of choice at a median £27,049. Going back to a 2023 car (61 listed, median £19,999) saves about 26% on that figure.
Older stock is thinner: only 14 cars from 2018 and 27 from 2019 appear in the sample, so compare carefully and check the history before paying a premium for an unusually tidy example.
Worked example
A 2023 Kia Sportage with 29,020 miles is advertised at about £19,999. One more year of age takes off roughly £1,180; 10,000 more miles takes off roughly £860. A year in which you also drive 10,000 miles would cost around £2,040 in lost value, before fuel, tax, insurance and servicing.
