How the Audi A3 compares with the market
Holding mileage, fuel and gearbox constant, each extra year of age takes about 6% off the asking price of a used Audi A3. That is roughly in line with the market, which loses about 5–6% a year, and ranks 10th of the 15 most-listed models in our study (1st loses the least).
Each extra 10,000 miles takes about 5.1% off, which is close to the market rate of about 5% per 10,000 miles; that ranks 8th of 15 for mileage. Overall, the Audi A3 sits close to the typical used car, with age doing slightly more of the damage.
Audi A3 asking prices by year
The oldest model year in the table, 2017 (8 cars), has a median asking price of £11,149 with 63,422 miles. The newest, 2026, sits at £28,699 with 5,341 miles. The biggest jump between consecutive years is from 2024 (£21,399) to 2025 (£26,999), partly because the newer cars have fewer miles (6,686 against 20,517).
| Year | Cars | Median price | Median mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 8 | £11,149 | 63,422 |
| 2018 | 14 | £12,299 | 61,017 |
| 2019 | 17 | £13,599 | 44,794 |
| 2020 | 11 | £15,999 | 45,128 |
| 2021 | 25 | £16,899 | 35,129 |
| 2022 | 66 | £17,499 | 29,882 |
| 2023 | 77 | £19,299 | 24,147 |
| 2024 | 43 | £21,399 | 20,517 |
| 2025 | 43 | £26,999 | 6,686 |
| 2026 | 29 | £28,699 | 5,341 |
Medians mix trims, engines and fuel types, so a single year's figure can move up or down with the mix of cars on sale. The per-year and per-mile rates above come from a regression that controls for fuel and gearbox.
What this means if you're selling your Audi A3
One A3 in five for sale is a plug-in hybrid (21%), with petrol at 75% and diesel at only 5%. A diesel A3 is now a niche choice, which can mean fewer comparable cars but also fewer interested buyers.
The A3 loses 6% a year, in line with the market, and 5.1% per 10,000 miles. Two thirds are automatic (67%), and an automatic adds about 17.7%.
What this means if you're buying a used Audi A3
2023 is the most common year (77 cars, median £19,299). Going back to 2022 brings the median down to £17,499 with 29,882 miles.
If you are considering a plug-in hybrid, compare it with other plug-in A3s: mixing them with petrol cars in a price comparison can make a fair price look expensive, or the reverse.
Worked example
A 2023 Audi A3 with 24,147 miles is advertised at about £19,299. One more year of age takes off roughly £1,160; 10,000 more miles takes off roughly £980. A year in which you also drive 10,000 miles would cost around £2,140 in lost value, before fuel, tax, insurance and servicing.
