How the Mercedes-Benz A Class compares with the market
Holding mileage, fuel and gearbox constant, each extra year of age takes about 5.8% off the asking price of a used Mercedes-Benz A Class. That is roughly in line with the market, which loses about 5–6% a year, and ranks 7th of the 15 most-listed models in our study (1st loses the least).
Each extra 10,000 miles takes about 4.3% off, which is less sensitive to mileage than the market (about 5% per 10,000 miles); that ranks 2nd of 15 for mileage. Overall, the Mercedes-Benz A Class sits close to the typical used car, with age doing slightly more of the damage.
Mercedes-Benz A Class asking prices by year
The oldest model year in the table, 2017 (6 cars), has a median asking price of £11,299 with 49,982 miles. The newest, 2026, sits at £26,399 with 5,838 miles. The biggest jump between consecutive years is from 2024 (£23,299) to 2025 (£25,999), partly because the newer cars have fewer miles (6,526 against 14,523).
| Year | Cars | Median price | Median mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 6 | £11,299 | 49,982 |
| 2018 | 14 | £14,896 | 46,884 |
| 2019 | 30 | £14,599 | 44,941 |
| 2020 | 27 | £16,199 | 42,195 |
| 2021 | 29 | £17,799 | 36,033 |
| 2022 | 42 | £19,149 | 37,133 |
| 2023 | 38 | £21,699 | 23,504 |
| 2024 | 27 | £23,299 | 14,523 |
| 2025 | 22 | £25,999 | 6,526 |
| 2026 | 18 | £26,399 | 5,838 |
Medians mix trims, engines and fuel types, so a single year's figure can move up or down with the mix of cars on sale. The per-year and per-mile rates above come from a regression that controls for fuel and gearbox.
What this means if you're selling your Mercedes-Benz A Class
Nine in ten A-Class cars for sale (91%) are automatic, the highest share in our top 15, so a manual A-Class is rare. Automatics are advertised about 17.3% higher.
The A-Class loses 5.8% a year but only 4.3% per 10,000 miles, so age matters more than mileage. Petrol is 76% of listings, diesel 14% and plug-in hybrid 10%.
What this means if you're buying a used Mercedes-Benz A Class
Because mileage costs relatively little, a higher-mileage A-Class can be good value if it has been serviced properly. A 2019 car is advertised at a median £14,599 with 44,941 miles.
Listings are spread evenly across the years, with no single dominant year; 2022 has the most cars (42, median £19,149).
Worked example
A 2022 Mercedes-Benz A Class with 37,133 miles is advertised at about £19,149. One more year of age takes off roughly £1,110; 10,000 more miles takes off roughly £820. A year in which you also drive 10,000 miles would cost around £1,930 in lost value, before fuel, tax, insurance and servicing.
