How the Ford Fiesta compares with the market
Holding mileage, fuel and gearbox constant, each extra year of age takes about 6.5% off the asking price of a used Ford Fiesta. That is faster than the market, which loses about 5–6% a year, and ranks 14th of the 15 most-listed models in our study (1st loses the least).
Each extra 10,000 miles takes about 5.5% off, which is more sensitive to mileage than the market (about 5% per 10,000 miles); that ranks 13th of 15 for mileage. Overall, the Ford Fiesta loses value faster than the typical used car.
Ford Fiesta asking prices by year
The oldest model year in the table, 2017 (11 cars), has a median asking price of £7,499 with 34,968 miles. The newest, 2023, sits at £13,499 with 22,093 miles. The biggest jump between consecutive years is from 2020 (£9,999) to 2021 (£11,346), partly because the newer cars have fewer miles (34,815 against 33,533).
| Year | Cars | Median price | Median mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 11 | £7,499 | 34,968 |
| 2018 | 39 | £8,699 | 39,849 |
| 2019 | 59 | £9,289 | 38,265 |
| 2020 | 46 | £9,999 | 33,533 |
| 2021 | 24 | £11,346 | 34,815 |
| 2022 | 26 | £12,249 | 20,912 |
| 2023 | 41 | £13,499 | 22,093 |
Medians mix trims, engines and fuel types, so a single year's figure can move up or down with the mix of cars on sale. The per-year and per-mile rates above come from a regression that controls for fuel and gearbox.
What this means if you're selling your Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta has the lowest median asking price of our 15 models (£10,324) and the newest cars in the sample are 2023 models. Every car is petrol and only 11% are automatic, the lowest share we found.
It loses 6.5% a year, faster than the market, and 5.5% per 10,000 miles. With supply now made up only of older cars, a tidy low-mileage Fiesta should be priced against others of the same year rather than against newer rivals.
What this means if you're buying a used Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta is one of the cheapest ways into a recent used car: a 2019 car (59 listed, the most common year) has a median of £9,289 with 38,265 miles.
If you want an automatic, expect to search harder; they are about 11% of listings and cost about 10.7% more.
Worked example
A 2019 Ford Fiesta with 38,265 miles is advertised at about £9,289. One more year of age takes off roughly £600; 10,000 more miles takes off roughly £510. A year in which you also drive 10,000 miles would cost around £1,110 in lost value, before fuel, tax, insurance and servicing.
