What the numbers mean
A Polo costs more than a Corsa at every age, and the gap in pounds hardly shrinks as the cars get older: about £3,300 on 2025 cars and still £3,300-£3,600 on 2019-2021 cars, even though the Polos in our data had covered similar or more miles. If you sell after a few years, more of your money comes back with a Polo. If you just want the cheapest reliable small car to run until it is worn out, a Corsa costs less to buy.
